knit your own hair bow

Ep! A DIY post! It feels like it's been a while! Leading on from my simple introductions into how to knit, here is a tutorial of how to make your own knitted hair bow. To wear in your hair. Like you're Lisa Mitchell.

Adapted from Jazz Domino Holly's book. (I've been loving her recent posts on Tumblr... just saying)

Firstly, cast on 15 stitches. Knit in garter stitch for 15cm, then cast off

This will be your main body of the bow.

To make the middle strip, simply, cast on 5 stitches and knit in garter stitch for 8cm. This will feel super quick and easy compared to the first step! Then cast off.

Regard! That was my middle strip. Quite remarkable, no?

With thread the same colour as your knitted bow, sew the smaller strip around the middle of the larger one. Secure with a few stitches. You could sew in a bobby pin so you can attach it to you pony tail. Like I did!

Now you have to run to the streets, swinging your ponytail back and forth with glee! Well... you don't have to. But it's advisable. Knit to a tune? Don't mind if I do!
